Playing the Auction House

By: Derek in Gold
May 12

It’s sick how closely related WoW can be to so many things in real life.

For this example we will be talking about the Auction House.

This is not some high tech strategy guide, these are just some gathered thoughts that I have used to success when playing the auction house.

My biggest “aha” moment when it comes to playing the AH is when I realized that the money comes from when you buy.

This will make sense to you people in real estate, or the stock market - but for everyone else this may seem like a retarded statement.

So let me explain.

The WoW Market is constantly fluctuating. Daily, Hourly, Weekly.

Prices will go up and down as people undercut, as people stop farming, and even as people stop playing.

The prices in the auction house are a little more controlled then the real world economy so it’s a lot more safe to just jump in.

Here’s the deal.

When you are looking for buys in the auction house, you will want to make your money on the purchase.

This means your profit doesn’t come directly from your sales, your money comes from picking up the good deal.

An example to this would be my overloaded stock of Small Glimmering Shard’s right now.

I actually have 624 of them. Here’s a picture:

Small Glimmering Shard

Why? - Because I picked them all up for 20 silver each. Following the market I know that they can sell all the way up to 1.5 gold a piece (on THIS specific server). That means on each purchased I made about 1.3g.. However it doesn’t show right now. Right now it just shows that I’m down 125 gold.

So this brings me to the next point.

Playing the Auction House takes patience.

The market takes swings, it goes up and down. Just because you can’t sell something immediately right now for a profit doesn’t mean you took a loss.

Save it for later. No one is forcing you to sell something for a loss. I will go out on a limb and claim that you will ALWAYS be able to sell something for a price of your choice. I have never been “stuck” with an item that I couldn’t sell off.. (besides a few items that got changed during patches, or phased out…etc etc)

So to be a good AH player it takes a lot of PATIENCE!

Make your money when you buy, wait for the market to give you a good chance to sell.. and take your profits.

Once you begin to understand this your swings in the market will be so much more controlled.

    Hey..

I heard somewhere you were working on a new warcraft riches manual. Is this true? If so when does it come out. When I heard about it I was really excited! Some guy was talking about it on my server.. please let us all know if it’s true or just rumors..

  2. Derek Says:

    Reply @ Terry,

Hey Terry - This is actually True.. i am working on Warcraft Riches 2.0

The economy has made some major turns and changes that we will be going over. But i have no clue on how you found out about this! Maybe it was just a lucky guess unless you are on a server with one of my very close friends!

The world is small enough so I wouldn’t second guess it but I never would have suspected them to leak information! >:-O

I will be giving more information about it over the next few weeks. It’s still not completed yet - so I got a lot of work to do! If you guys are interested in it I will keep you updated!

  3. Mario Says:

    nice post.
Since you let the cat of the bag :D. If people in the past are they gonna get an update on the warcraft to riches manual? I bought mine about a month ago. Just wondering

  4. Rebecca Says:

    Hi Terry
I have been trying out the AH, scanning Buying and selling, i was quite unsure about it all, i still am, i do the scans and i find some really odd prices im not trusting it yet but im getting there. Great tip on holding on to stock, i have tried to resell some items with no luck, I will try holding on to them and Practice the Patience thing ( i need to work on that ) :). I love these tips Thank you.

  5. Rebecca Says:

Edit the above message, OMG sorry Derek, I just finished reading yur reply to terry and his name was in my head. sorry again

  6. Bale Says:

I agree 100% that the money comes at the time of purchase. The key here, as Derek stated, is patience. Don’t get discouraged if you have to stash a large quantity of something you bought at a discount price and not be able to sell it within a month or two.

  7. Chris Says:

I have found that 2 things affect AH and sales there. The first as you stated is true and necessary. The 2nd, which is of course related is timing.
Now timing is many things, patience, for sure, but it also involves careful scheduling. Hence, usually you can sell more and get more for an item on weekends, which runs from late in the am thursday, through at least late sat eve.
I guess its a way of saying, since it is a numbers game after all, the times when most or more people are on means quicker and more competition for sales in bids, thus more profit.
Underlying all of this is of course the need to have items that arre in demand by the most players. Take the time to figure that out more and your profits will increase for sure.

  8. Vernon McFadden Says:

It seems to me that in order to succeed on the AH, the buy low/sell high theme is great. Here’s another one: If at first you don’t succeed (in selling), try, try, try again. Case in point:

I am a skinner/miner by professional trade. I once had 91 lots of Light Leather (at the time they eventually sold) going for about 7g/20 lots. I had 27 then went up to 48 and then 70+ before finally selling all of them at a grand total of 31+g.

For my mining skill, I got frustrated with the lack of Tin Veins that had Ore. So one day last week, I took the time to find all the tin ores and Bars with the Copper bars needed to make Bronze. My mining went from a skill of 78 to a 128 just from searching the AH and getting 20+g from the sale of the Bronze Bars. Now I’m on the hunt for Silver Ore to smelt into Bars or Bars that sell cheap (<75%) and I resell them for at least a 25% profit margin depending on the market.

  9. zack Says:

this is pretty good i have an offer to make you on my realm i have a warlords deck i m willing to trade you it for a gude what do you think

  10. Alex Says:

I know exactly what you mean when you say buy low/ sell high. I was on the AH looking up blues at low prices and say a lv 49 2h mace with good stats. I bought it for 10g. Its been two monthes since I bought it and I finally sold it for a nice 56g. Thats 46g for holding onto something. Of course its not always a gain like this, but it adds up. I know this with Greater eternal essences. They used to cost a few gold on my server, but now they jumped to 21g< for one! I made some nice gold after getting my enchanting to 300. Remember patience is exactly what you need to play the AH ( and a little common sense).

  11. Kevin Says:

While the market might fluctuate forcing you to take a loss if you sell immediately, it is often worth it to do so and get the gold back in your hands. Your gold doesn’t earn you anything when it’s sitting in the form of an item. So always take into consideration how much gold you need to be the most efficient at playing the Auction House and whether or not taking a loss is worth having that extra bit of gold to put to work.

  12. hunter outland Says:

i tried your ideas and they work extreamly good i got from 20g too 150g in only 1hour it is asome i recomend this guid.

    slayorou relm:bladefist

  13. Robert Says:

This is so true! I am an herbalist and one of the herbs that I always try to keep a stock of is Stranglekelp. I once bought 200pcs of stranglekelp while they were really cheap, then sold them over a 4 month period. At the end I had made a 150g+ profit!

  14. Max Says:

Playing the AH by watching the market is great if you have time and patience for it. But for me, at the moment, it’s revolving around selling mats and recipies that are in high demand. I’m lvl 21 right now, and I have over 65g just from selling stuff on the AH. I have found that basically ANYTHING that can be used in a profession can sell on the AH. Even a stack of Boar Meat can sell for 1g, which for a low-lvl player is god-sent.

  15. Edward E.G termius Says:

Hey Derek Love the new blog keep up the great work
Edward. Aka Termius My Undead mage =)

  16. Unlok Says:

Other way of seeing this is when you buy cheap the materials for making “things” that you’re going to sell.

An example: I buy Mageweave cloth for making XXXX that disenchants into XXXX+XXXX… when I can buy Mageweave at 20silver a piece (or less) I know that I’m making huge money (even knowing that I havent sold the reagents yet!).

I’m making money at the time I buy that cheap, the income will come in an unknown moment, but it will come, for sure :D (and enchanting reagents free auction cost FTW!!! lol).

  17. BAzz Says:

One thing to remember. If you see a good deal on an item, maybe a low starting bid but high buyout price, wait till just before maintenance to bid.

The Auction timer runs through maintenance, so no one else can outbid you.

If the auction ends during maintenance, you win it.
I managed to score a Ced’s Carver for 10g doing this, but I haven’t seen anything this good yet to try it again.

  18. fireboy Says:

hey derek, I totally agree with this method. Not to mention that i just rip off my sever today with the same method before i even read ur guide. Great job man.

  19. Daniel Says:

Yea, I have also made allot of money using AH and my mining profession.

10 days ago I bought my epic mount, afterwards I was down to 29g. Then I went ore farming, and spent some time on AH.. Now I’m up to 2100g..

But I’m affraid of buying items on the AH that I just never will sell again. I know you say I have to have patience, and I think I have, but I dont think I have the nerves to buy allot of items to resell them.. I think its because I only have played WoW for 2 months now, so I really dont know what sells hot and whats not:-)

What do you guys earn the most gold on reselling??:-)

  20. Honjrua Says:

if there is one thing i regret is not Buying all the Primal Shadow and Fire out on my server wqhen i ahd 4.8k gold bec ause the Primal Fire Jumped 10g up and the Shadow doubled in Price but hey it’s unpredictable and i should of taken the bait =). oh well Gl to AHer’s out there

  21. Ty Says:

    Hey Derek,

I am a new player and have been trying to twink a level 29 blood elf warlock…. there is only one problem i cant seem to get my enchanting level up to DE stuff to sell. Can u please tell me the best way to level my enchanting.

    Ty

  22. Milan Says:

Nice, Derek! Your ideas lead me from 5g to 50g in just ONE DAY!!!
I hope that you continue to gieve out things^^

  23. Viktor Says:

Sweet, I like your “guides”, some of my friends have it and they all love it. ^^

  24. Ludius Says:

    It’s true, thanks Derek.
Sometimes I just get frustrated because people keep putting up their items lower than me, case in point, Khorium bar, I was buying them out and selling higher but couldn’t keep up with the competition and so I just put at whatever price AH had.
Even on days when I have too much homework to play much at all, I go on my different toons and at least do AH scans and bottomscanner.

  25. thyasyn Says:

One type of seller you forget to mention is the “fair play” seller. I have met these types in various guilds. This is the player who sells items at vendor price to kill a market. The problem they present is that they buy from a vendor for 2G and sell for 2G + AH fee. Nothing is made on the transaction, but nothing is lost either. How do you deal with these folks?

  26. shamagirl Says:

    Hello:D

I bought your guide , but i dont know if i have the wrong addon, but i just dont need what to buy:p i have ben scanning for days now so i think i am rdy to start:P but its hard!!xD plz help

    -Shamagirl

  27. René Says:

    Hi Derek,

This is my first post, but i have to say your book is very good.
I hope to see your 2e book.
My story is only with the AH, in the beginning i was i little unsure for buying. Then wenn the money was coming in, i buy now almost blind.
i started with 200G and i have now 1300G and about 1000 auctions.
I am now about 3 weeks further.

My suggestion is start slow and learn the AH and the addons for the AH ( very important )

I hope there will be more blog post off you.

  28. Ownerofmars Says:

    Hi Derek-
As always, good information you’ve shared.- thanks.

In your blog above you stated something about items being phased out. I have been wondering about that in particular.

How do you know an item is going to be phased out before it actually happens so that you can profit from that at AH?
Also, is there a site that you know of that lists phased out items, the reason I am wanting to know is because several times I searched thottbot or some site and found an item I thought– WOW, I want to go farm that, etc. but come to find out the reason it NEVER dropped for me is because the item was no longer available so the info. I had was outdated to begin with. I hope there is a site listing things that USED to be there and are not anymore. :)

Anyway, sorry to get off subject it is just that you always have such good ideas and I like to get your opinion.
    Thank you.

  29. Marec Says:

    Derek,

The best piece of advice I’ve ever read from you was get to level 70 as fast as you can. Once I got to the Outlands and started following your gold guide I started seeing my gold pile up!

I bought your leveling guide and can’t wait to get to 70 to see the whole game open up to me…and the money opportunities, too.

Keep the blogs coming - they’re great!

  30. J Says:

Awesome advice…unfortunately have never been able to buy you guides because need to keepfood on table for kids and roof over head but bits like this areawsome. Keep up the good work!!!

  31. DJsAuctions Says:

I don’t own your guide, but I am a serious AH player. The biggest problem today is players trying to make the “big score” with just a handful of items. 95% of your AH income will come from white/green items with the other 5% from blue/epic items. Don’t concentrate on the high end items, level 20-50 green items are the best sellers on my server. Also, amazingly enough, Linen Cloth and Wool Cloth are selling for about 1g a stack on my server.

Don’t discount the market for low level white (even grey) items. If you start a new toon, keep the low level white items and put them in the AH as well, those usually go pretty quickly…the small amounts of silver add up before you know it. Shoulders are an especially hard item to get pre level 18, I regularly sell level 15-18 grey cloth and leather shoulders for 2-3g in the AH.

Don’t over price or you’ll get under bid, and don’t cut your own throat by under bidding too much. It’s better to hold an item for a week or 2 and post it when you can put it in at your price.

Derek made an excellent point in a different post: make an AH mule! If you have the character space available, make a level 1 toon and run him/her to the nearest capitol and park them. Send them 5 bags and some gold to start, then let that one toon handle all of your auctions. It serves as a central point to send all of your items for the AH, but as a savings account as well. I kept most of my gold on my mule so my main wouldn’t spend it.

The AH can be your best friend or your worst enemy, learn to play the AH and don’t let it play you. A lot of patience and a little common sense will get you far…and rich!

  32. Kevin Says:

I had purchased your guide awhile back and have lost it. Can I get another copy?

  33. Jeremiah Colorado Says:

Hi all, so just to let all people know, lvl 58 items and up are Not good AH items, once a character gets to Outland, he get way too cool of items by questing to want to buy them on AH anymore.
The only exeption is 65 to 70 lvl items but my experience is still to limited to know what is good and what is not, and Derek a little help in this section would be great!.
I’ve tried listing a few items that I thought were great items for 2 months straight, and had to pay through the nose for AH fees, but finally I gave up and just vendored them.

  34. Mr.H Says:

    Hey Derek
I love your guides, they are really helpful my profs have gone up so high and i have loads of gold thanks to you thx alot =)

  35. k yates Says:

Very good info, i know too well, basically watch the trends, and take advantage of the market….But always be fair not greedy…Karma is big in W O W…trust me

  36. Mozzer Says:

Heya dude i realy found your old guide usefull so im hoping that this one will be an even bigger success. as we all know who play the rogue commuinty (Not including twinks) cash flows out verrrry quickly on anything with even one more agilty than the current gear thats why im excited about this :P .

    Keep up the big work.
    Mozzer

  37. DJsAuctions Says:

    @ Jeremiah Colorado:

You have too weigh the AH fees against the price you post in the AH. You may get 1 or 2 auctions before you start to lose money. If you sell an item for 10g and the AH fees are 3g, your profit margin quickly diminishes. The new Auctioneer Advanced has the AH fees in the side window, so you can make a quick determiniation (before you post your auction) on whether or not you can sell the item many times and still make a profit. I find that “of the Whale” gear, “of Spirit” gear, and “of X Resistance” gear are normaly bad sellers and not worth more than (maybe) one posting in the AH (these items usually go straight to my enchanter for DE).

Recently, I too had about 30 or so items that I thought would sell in the AH, and after 6-7 postings they didnt sell (about 150-200g loss total), I cut my losses and DE’d/Vendored the items so I wasn’t tempted to post them again.

  38. Irtzgurter Says:

A couple of thoughts. First, great stuff, Derek. WoW AH is a bit of a microcosm of real world economics and prices and values do fluxuate. Just look at the cost of ores since the last patch. Since this spring, on my server, Mithril ore has more than doubled in price on the AH, so timing is everything.
Also, and this has been mentioned in other guides but is good to remember, Twink items can be fairly lucrative if you can obtain them for cheap because the seller was desperate for gold or entered their auction price wrong. Consider this. You have lvl’d your toon up to 19 and are entering Warsong Gultch for the first time ever. You didn’t know that a very large percentage of the lvl 19’s in there are highly twinked so you get your fanny handed to you by that lvl 19 whatever that kills you in three hits. One of two things will happen. You will either never go back (less chance of this I suspect…) or you will immediately attempt to upgrade your toon’s gear and the AH is the place to do it if you don’t have a network of friends that can make gear for you. If you really got torqued by getting killed repeatedly, you are more likely to make an impulse buy just to get that blue gear to replace what you have and thus the “Twink Market.” Not all gear will be that profitable, but all it takes is a bit of profit numerous times and then that rare occurance where someone prices an item for 1s50c when they really meant 1g50s. With bottom scanner configured correctly, that item will be snapped up by savvy AHers before the placer of the auction realizes what they did, or before they can cancel the auction. Then you are making hundreds or even thousands of percent profit. Patience is a virtue and if you wait, these deals happen. I know because I have made a modest fortune on items that had to be priced wrong and I have also made that same mistake myself. So, buy carefully and take advantage of the rare steals to sweeten the pot. Last piece of advice. Be CAREFUL working at very late hours because that is how I priced a 250g item for 2g50s. Fortunately for me, the item was popular and it bid to over 100g allowing me to still make a small profit. The point is that a distraction at the wrong time can wipe out a profit and allow a serious loss. Again, an example of Art imitating Life…
    Good luck all!!!

  39. Nuno Says:

I purchased and read Derek’s Diary, at first I must say I was a bit suspicious, since I play WoW since Beta and knew several ways to gather up gold, mostly stealth runs, farming, and providing services (crafting and selling items), but I never “played” in the AH and I must admit it was a “eye opener”. Tkz Derek ;)

I agree with Derek’s statement “money comes from when you buy”, I do my math when I’m buying an item, I try to learn it’s potencial market value, high price and low price, avg, market need etc…it’s stock market in a box (with lower risk to your wallet :P )

  40. kevin Says:

i dint read this and still knew about this you on my server large prismatic shards go for 30-40g each
i bought 45 for 10g each so i GOT SO MUCH Profit

  41. jeff Says:

man i have done this in the past and have made a ton but recently i ahve not made more than 100g idk if it is because of prices changing or because everyobne has auctioneer. btw what server do you play on

  42. Andrew Says:

i just want to give a tip for new AH players. when you buy and resell you want to get items that sell quickly. Even if the profit isnt that big. the small income will build up. Stay away from epics unless its a huge steal (i made 400g off 39 twink stuff, that was pure luck) but usually you will see an item and think you will make a 10g profit, but if it doesnt sell you will end up losing money because you have to repost it.
I bought two nightblades that i resold for 60g more but i ended up losing money because they just wouldnt sell. timing is key.

another sneaky trick is to have another char sell some of the same items as your main seller and have them sell it for cheaper, the buyer will think they are getting a deal.

I know a lot of you may know this but when i found this out it was a huge money maker.

also i want to say buy dereks leveling guide because it is great.

  43. Mason Says:

    Hey,
Yeah this is a pretty good strategy. It got my twink quite a few enchants but you’ve really got to be careful that you don’t fall for tricks, where someone sticks a single item at an outrageous price, raising the average price and causing you to lose money on that purchase.

  44. Ghonzo Says:

I completely agreed with Derek said.
Patience can be the key but u also might wanna make sure i got items that people will buy.
Examples would be if ur a miner: Fel Iron ore/bar which sells 30g+/stack, Eternium 50g+, etc…
Enchanter: Arcane Dust (easily obtained by DEing dailies quest greens they give off their bags)

    etc….

Also timing of when you put and how long you put your items

For instance: me and this one guy fought over 5 of furies that was on bid for 2g 75s and for 48hours time. Me and him keep on bidding for like 10hours until the price went up to 58g+( other 5 of furies 90g+) in the end i gave up for sleeping (time difference +14hours) so timing is vital! =)

Hope this might help some of you guys =) im sure Derek know these already

  45. Huntersev Says:

Hey thanks for the AH info but WTF How the HELL DID YOU GET Small Glimmering Shards FOR 20 SILVER EACH? so if you did that then ‘Playing the AH’ IF any Body Reading this Wants so Talk to me go on these Realms Khaza Goroth (i think) Spire Stone and add Warriorev in Spire stone and Huntersev in Khaza (Hunters my Best Toon) FROM ME ME ME ME ME GO ON MY WEB ME ME ME ME I ROCK : P…

  46. Fireplay Says:

Hey, if u are an enchanter and the strange dust on ur server is very high I have a great idea I have used many times myself. U can go on the AH and buy up alle the cheep green items. They usally cost like 10-20 sliver and get 2-6 strange dust each. And then sell the stacks for as much as 5g each! I earned like 1k gold on this one! U can also grind the low lvl items in some instances like DeadMines too. u will get a huge profit on this one! you can acculy be at lvl 20 and gain enough gold for ur epix mount!

  47. Louis Says:

I follow your advice in buying stuff on AH in the weekends much cheaper and I make my money on the weekdays selling them for higher price. Like Primal Water, Air, Fire, and Shadow, Large prismatic shards, etc.

I also didn’t know i would make money by making sets of cloth with my tailoring HA! thie guide works for me^.^

Pllus me being patient is good I save lots of mats and I make plenty of gold. Thanks. And can’t wait for your new guide

  48. Garon Says:

I don’t know if i was just really lucky but on the server i play on the Savory Deviate Delights sell for 1-2g each and the recipe to make them is at least 80g. I found the recipe for 30s and freaked. I didn’t think that someone would sell it for such a low price.

So I have to ask this question. Do you think i should sell the recipe, or would it be best to increase my cooking to learn it then sell the fish for 20-40g a stack depending on the market price. I’m a 51 hunter but I don’t particularly care for when i reach level 70 I just know that I will.

  49. joe da rebal Says:

    hi
ur a real insperation for meh in WOW ur hints have helped meh thro alot of things btu i also got a qestionif thts okei have warlocks got a real disadvatage in a battle ground? and are they one of the hardest chars 2 lvl?

  50. Bromios Says:

It is indeed funny how people try and play the AH in the wrong mannor. Ex they think Colors demand gold etc. If you watch teh AH as i do i have made almost 6000 gold in 2 days, by buyying and taking a hit like the above post says but if posted at the right time yuo can make a killing. You just need to see whats hot and kow whats coming up in the patches to take advantage of what others seem to lack. Knowledge of the market and patches and what they bring will bring you riches.

  51. Blackrider Says:

this was a great help for me, i tried this with primal fires as usually there a ton of underpriced ones and a few over priced. i bought out all motes for like 8s a piece, and primals for 1g a week later i made 300+ g from selling the primals i made for 15g each and 15s for motes

  52. Wilk Says:

I started using this idea a while ago but I haven’t tried holding on to them long though. I usually buy all the lower priced items that I can then turn around and sell them at the new lower price and make some but not much profit. I’ll try to hold on to the items longer in the future

  53. Derahn Says:

I have to admit…I followed your strategy in the AH and I am impressed!!! I took 100g and flipped it into 1300g so far. However, it seems as if I plateaued somewhat and cannot make anymore gold. Is there someway to remedy this?

  54. freddy Says:

the patience idea is so spot on!!!

  55. meee Says:

i was looking what AH had to offer me then i found a cat layd out for only 50 MSK. 75 MSK buyout. so i was going to buy it, then a little gnome named pepitoz sayd ”cat not for sale” and i took it out from AH and run away as quickly as the small gnome feet could bare him…

    … poor little pepitoz!

  56. noah Says:

im really poor on my level 56 i bassically gave up on him, Derik any tips you can give me i could really use them.

    thanks.

  57. Luke Says:

    hey derek,

thx for the tip on the AH! I just recently bought your DGMG! I has helped me so much!

i bought my lvl 60 riding mount with in the first week ( i made 600+ Gold)! the second week i made only 250 gold but thats ok, i wasnt playing alot b/c im getting adjusted to my new summer jobs now that college is out!

the main reason for my comment is i that i usually browse the AH on either my maine 68 rogue or my soon to be 19 twink lock! i suppose my question is:

does it matter or affect my auctioneer and give me less accurate pricing if i scan the AH on my main toon for one or two days and then use my alt (just made a bank toon a few days ago hoping to buy bags and bag slots this weekend) for one or two days (the timing on each toon is extremely random)?

thx for any help you can give me!

So I set up this macro “/auctioneer broker 1000″. I press it and in my chat window I will see all sorts of items. Now what do I do? Do I have to manually search the AH for those items, or are they suppose to appear then the auction window?

thanks for a great website… took 10g and turned it to 350g in 2 weeks, playing about 1 hour / week. sounds like one of them ‘get rich schemes’ .

Hey Derek, interesting subject dough, i hardly believe that any stuff pre tbc is worth putting on AH, sure they won’t sell immediately maybe over ALOT of time, for leveling Enchanters and perhaps twinks. go go blizzard no fee for putting enchantings materials on AH.
    Andreas.

Good job Derek on the guide

I have some suggestions for your 2.0 guide.

Go over more the addon’s explaining how to customize it all, how to set em all up, show more pictures of the setup options and explain things.

Auctioneer got updated to Auctioneer ADVANCED, and has a few different features.

Same with the informant addon, explain how to set it up so it displays the helpful information, and how to read the displayed information.

This is a great tool as after farming it tells you what its worth to vendor, AH, and sugests what to do with it.

Some of the best ways of gold making on the AH’s I have seen is

    Dominate a market.

    Example

I would go in when wool cloth is cheap and buy it all out. then double the price. (ex: bought at 25s EACH sold for 50s each)

All you gotta do is be online when the sellers are selling and buy it ALL.

Be the only SELLER selling it when the buys come online.

Anyone who posts wool for cheaper than mine I would buy it out right away. (as long as it was a reasonable price)

Just make sure you are the ONLY seller for it when the buyers are buying. They are FORCED to pay your mark up.

Then when lots of people post wool cloth the next day at just under your price you send all your stock piled wool to a different character, lower the price to JUST under the competitors price (still over the price of what you paid for it)

I have made over 400g in 2 days alone from controlling the wool market.

Now I am testing out Thick Leather, Silk Cloth, and some enchanting mats with the same idea

Yeah, the AH is by far your greatest gold making ally. For me, Im a 375 enchanter, and 375 tailor, and I use this to my advantage with the AH. Luckily for me, Im working with whats in demand now and will most likely will always be until WotLK comes out. My biggest gold makers this weekend were Large Prismatic Shards 30g each. Greater Eternal Essences 22g each, and Runic Spellthread 500g each.

The shards I get from spending 35g per void crystal and shatter it into 2 large prismatics. thats a 25g profit.

The greater eternals I search lvl 50-60 weapons and enchantrix tells me how much essence to expect on DE. buy the weapon for 10g and I DE it into 2-3 greater eternals. thats 50g profit.

And with the Runic Spellthread Primal manas were only 17-20g and the nether was 100g. I sold 2 of them and those are 200-250g profit.

Easy money if you watch the market and know how to use it, not just when to buy low.

  63. Joe Says:

Oh and I went from about 600g last Friday to 1950g now

Hi there, Just wondered if anyone could help me out. Im new to all this AH stuff but iv tried it over the last day or two and made a 100-200g profit which isnt bad for my first days but should i be buying out the small profit items and many of them? e.g. atm i wont buy anything unless im going to make 10g profit out of it? Should i be buying lot and lots of 2-3g profits to make an overall profit aswell or? Please someone get back to me if they can. Thanks

hi, um i have a question about playing the auction house, when im on the search auctions tab of acutioneer, what am i supposed to be looking for? like, should i buy the items that dont stack up like books and recipes, or should i look for stackable items like mats and stuff? and another question, when i see deals on the search auctons tab like a full stack of rugged leather, i buy it out, but then i do a manual search for it and then there are lots more undercut that weren’t on the search auctions tab, should i buy all of the auctions of rugged leather that were under market value? what should i do? im new, and im really confused. please respond!

  66. michael Says:
