Don’t Make Me Beg!

By: Derek in Main
Jun 27

This is something that has been a plague to MMO’s for a very long time. Every MMO that I have played seems to have some sort of player that wants to beg their way through the game instead of trying to play through for themselves.

I’m sure you have seen some sort of begging. I have seen plenty in my time.. you know:

“HeY Cen I have 1g to git my Skillz?!?!?!?!”
“PLEASE!!!!?!?!?!>!!>~”

or

“Hey Man Can I borrow 5g to get this Gun I want”

********** is a level 9 Human Warrior in Ironforge.

Or the classic one:
“HOT NAKED NIGHTELF DANCING IN FRONT OF THE AUCTION HOUSE!!!”
“PLEASE COME DONATE TO MY MOUNT FUND!!!!”

I used to either simply tell them no, or I would tell them to get a life. But I recently came up with a better solution. I have a little macro that is set up to respond to them (after I click it) that may have a better effect then saying no, or just ignoring them!

My response is this:

In a game where you can be a warrior, an exporer, an adverturer, a Killer, an explorer, or a Master Crafter - You have chosen the life of a beggar. Good Choice!

I can’t stand these players, and I would never give them anything even if they did just start playing the game that very day. Every player in this game had the same ability to farm gold for their character and begin moving through the game. WHY CAN’T THEY!

Don’t you love PvP Idiots?

By: Derek in PvP
Jun 25

I’m writing this as i’m watching the corpse of a fool who tried to camp me.

As you can guess he’s having trouble staying alive.

Why Do you Grief?! Why would you [tag]camp[/tag] him?!

I usually don’t even attack the other faction while I’m questing. I do this just so I can get my quests done or grinding done and I leave the area instead of having a camp fest.

Unfortunately you have the idiots who like to try and camp you. So they /wave, or /greet and you start to grind thinking they understand that we wont attack each other.

Then when you pull a few mobs they come up and gank you. Usually I end up killing them anyways, but this guy got lucky and killed me because I wasn’t paying attention.

So then you see one of the /spit /clap /spit /clap /spit /clap macro’s. This just further proves that he is a complete retard.

And then I come back to him camping me. Oh joy =)

As you can see, the idiot doesn’t understand the concept of the game. Simply because even though he was camping me, I was able to kill him.

So usually what I do to people like this is camp them for a few deaths, then I will go back to questing while I keep an eye on him, and probably kill him 1-2 more times that way. Then either he will run away for ever or he will finally start being nice and letting me finish my quest.

Either way I will have plenty of fun killing him for the next few minutes and then finishing up my quests here in the badlands!

Oh and just in case we run into him again and I get to make some more fun of him. He’s a level 40 Dranei Shaman named “GoldForge”

Good old level 40 mount!

By: Derek in Main
Jun 21

Well Kinjal just hit level 40 last night and we picked up his mount as soon as I heard the “Ding”.

Let me just say that it is so annoying being a Blood elf when it’s time for your mount. The path back to your mount vendor is ridiculous (depending where you are.. most likely you are nowhere near UC or Silvermoon City)

But never the less I finally made it through the first “bracket” of leveling. I think this is where the game starts picking up and is a lot more fun.

I’ve been very busy here recently I actually just became an Uncle so I haven’t had much time to play. Unfortunately Kinjal hasn’t seen much playing time over the last few days because of how busy I have been but we will see to it that we pick up the ball here!

I’ve been in beast master spec, and I finally got Bestial Wrath so I can’t wait to start unleashing that to make some fights go a lot quicker.

I’m still in Stranglethorn for right now, I actually just finished up the most of the northern quests. I just hearthed down to Booty Bay and I’m going to be starting the Pirates quests here soon.

I only have a few more quests for the north (I feel like i’m in the middle of a civil war as I write this), and that is just the elite hunting quests (Raptor then Big Game Hunting).

With my experiences with Stranglethorn, i’m kinda sad to leave! Rare PvP, super quick questing! For the first time I will say that I finally get upset for having to leave so soon!

I’m Finally nearing the end of all my experiences with StrangleThorn Vale with Kinjal!

I don’t know what happened with the reputation that STV used to have though. Stranglethorn has always been the ultimate death match of World of Warcraft. What happened?!

I’m still not done granted.. I’m almost level 40, so I still have a little bit to do. But I have only have died twice due to ganking and that was from a level ?? Rogue both times.

Also inside of STV now we always have the high level characters (seems to be on both sides) where people constantly question: “Anyone have alliance trouble!?!” We have created some form of patrolling/security system Lin the biggest warzone of the game!

As for low level characters, there are few to be seen. I’m on a medium pop PvP Server. This made me figure I would have some good battles in STV. I have seen 4-5 alliance that are my level. Two of them snuck up behind me while I was killing a pack of mobs. I thought for sure it was time to start the endless chains of PvP battle in STV. As they ran up behind me I only noticed they were there to help me kill my pack of mobs.

My only guess that STV’s popular reputation for the death match has scared players away from packing in.

There are just way to many quests in STV for me to EVER pass up the zone. I have heard many times in general chat some low level character:

Lowbie: “Where should I go to level up at 35″
Player 1: “Go to STV”
Player 2: “No don’t go to STV you will constantly die from Alliance, go here”

It’s so retarded hearing things like that, but HEY! It makes my life easier in STV.

I do miss all the PvP that I have experienced inside of STV, although it makes the questing experience so much quicker and it makes for a quick leveling.

Maybe this is just a fluke with my server here in STV, how is STV on your server?

Can we get some real PvP?

By: Derek in PvP
Jun 19

I’m not going to start a rant here about the death of world of warcraft, the death of the GM’s or the game designers, and i’m not going to bash the game mechanics itself.

We all know the game is simply amazing that’s why we are all addicted. But let’s face it.. Blizzard did a horrible job creating a pvp system. On top of that, they did a horrible job for building any system inside the game (you will see as I explain.) Before you read any farther, I want to stress this is not a rant - it’s a discussion.

My favorite part of any PvP would be outdoor hunting. That’s real pvp! I’m not saying that I don’t enjoy Battlegrounds but I still think battlegrounds are less enjoyable because it creates a fake “battle environment”.

With that being said there needs to be some type of incentive to get players out into the game and PvP. I still have fun “ganking” other players because that’s the only bit of World PvP that I actually get.

So let’s talk about why I want real PvP. Everything that we do as characters grants us items. We grind for gold or items. We Quest for gold or items. We get reputation for some items. We get honor just to get some items. Now I understand it’s a descent system for rewarding players who are active but it sucks in my opinion!

Let’s take a close look. I was in a pvp guild grinding out my ranks to High Warlord, which is back when it was actually hard to do. Our guild had about 8 regulars, and 2 players would switch in and out. I was 3rd in-line to hit High Warlord.

We started most of this grind in WSG because there was nothing else. I finally hit High Warlord.. and I wanted to kill myself. The grind to get those items was very tedious! It was a huge accomplishment but something I will never do again.

After I got my items.. I was so tired of PvP that I didn’t even want to try out my new weapons. You see what I mean? We do all that work for items, just to finally GET them -AFTER- we do what we want them for, for such a long time. In my opinion this makes the system broke.

Now lets compare WoW To my FAVORITE pvp game of all time: ShadowBane. Shadowbane is a game that rewarded pvp of all sorts. For one thing you could kill anyone in the game. When you killed them, you could loot their corpse. This means you would have access to the items they were holding in their bags (Not their actual armor). Very cool right? Gives players a reason to go out and hunt.

On top of this players also have the ability to build cities. With the gold you farm, you can build a city that has guards, it could be a castle, and you can also hire you’re own vendors. This brings a WHOLE new aspect into PvP. You can now wage war (or bane) the cities that you do not like. Let’s say you are out grouping, and a big group comes and ganks your’s then camps your spot. No longer do you have to log out and quit for the night because they are doing what you wanted to - you simple Bane their city!

Putting a “political” system like that into the game, gives a very fun, and unique twist to the game. Also remember, when you bane their city, you will destroy it if you win the war. That means all the gold, effort and time it took to build that city - can be ruined with one bane.

So this creates a whole new aspect to PvP. It creates allies, enemies, wars, and more fun! Unfortunately Shadowbane is an older game, with not too many players and horrible graphics/game play. But they knew how to run a pvp system.

I understand this will probably never happen in WoW because of the Lore. Don’t get me wrong.. I love the lore but it’s kinda restricting at times.

I think I’m just tired of raiding in AV, to kill a boss that will re-spawn the next time I join the game. It’s kinda unrealistic and makes the game a “grind”.

Enough of my end of the discussion… What do YOU think will change WoW’s PvP System and what are you’re views about how PvP is in WoW.

Using your chat box for gold!

By: Derek in Gold
Jun 13

I don’t know one player who doesn’t use the chat box in World of Warcraft, but are people using it correctly is the question.

I don’t know about you buy over the weekend I made a killing from players selling items in bulk, or just negotiating with them so that I can get a great price for the item.

You see, if you’re staying current with your Auction House scans, you have an advantage that most players don’t. Most players are too lazy to actually scan the AH on a frequent basis. This is awesome for us players who are trying to make gold because we get some steps ahead of them.

You will often see people spamming things in the trade channel, like:

20x Stacks of [RuneCloth] for sale. Now if you don’t know how much runecloth sells for (per stack) I would recommend taking a quick little stroll to the auction house just to update yourself. After you have a price set in your head.. get ready to negotiate!

Send that player a message and first ask him for what he’s asking for. A lot of times you will end right here, either he is asking for too much, or he is asking for a great price and you just take the offer right there.

Some times on the other hand, you will want to negotiate with him to get a better price. What I usually do is if I don’t like the price I will leave him with a message along the lines of:

“Well, if you don’t sell it - I will send ya “x” gold for it. Just get back to me if you want it.”

Most of the time people will be spamming in the trade channel for hours just to try and get rid of their items that they are selling at wholesale price. When you are friendly with the player at the same time of offering them a rediculously low price - they will easily take you up on your offer.

It works for me nearly every time! It usually doesn’t work with items that are hot (epics, or some big blues) because these players are fixed on the price they want - they usually go no lower.

But for materials like cloth, ore, herbs, or even bulk things like potions in stacks, many players will budge a little bit to avoid having to post on the auction house!

I have asked around to see why players do this, and their answers have usually been because they don’t know how to use the auction house correctly! I thought this was absolutely crazy. The auction house is so easy to manipulate and make gold from.. but it proves a good point.

Most players don’t have the ability to make gold like we can, so lets take advantage of it while we can (before some new add-on comes out and makes our style of gold-collecting wash down the drain!
