World of Warcraft Gold Guide

May 5th, 2007

Professions, Professions, Professions!

Professions seem to be the new “cool thing to do”.

I can understand why because it makes SO much gold.

Every profession now that Burning Crusade has been released, is just making HUGE amounts of gold.

With the new expansion there is 3 elements to Gold Farming now..

1. Questing
2. Professions
3. Auction House
4. Grinding (”New school” Grinding)

Everything is being changed with new recipes.

Even grinding has changed. You no longer grind mobs just to get big drops, or even grind them for gold per hour. That’s what we are beginning to consider “Oldschool” Grinding.

The new age of grinding is different, you farm for reputation items, or you grind mobs that you are questing on, or getting a specific item. The fact that you are picking up coins, and other vendor trash is now just an “added” bonus.

Before the expansion – that vendor trash was the bread and butter of your grinding.

[tag]Professions[/tag] are in!

I haven’t seen an unprofitable profession yet in this game. Some cost a lot of money, some make more then others, but there’s just so many ways to make money now from EACH one.

The best professions to make money off of right now are your gathering professions. They always will be the huge money makers but for right now they are KILLERS.

The reason they are making such a huge killing right now is because people are speed-leveling their professions.

Everyone wants to be the first person to 375, and they want to be the first person with all the new hot recipes.

On top of that, you have guilds that are trying to conquer new content so they NEED [tag]high level[/tag] professions to gear their players.

Mining, Skinning, Herbalism, will make you a killing. Every single one of your herbs, ore, or leather will make you money for now because people are still trying to level up. I would quickly pick up one of these professions, if not TWO!

I’ve been farming thick clefthoof leather (from skinning) in nagrand. it makes really good money! 1 stack sells for atleast 60g and you can get 2-4 stacks/hour, that means atleast 120-240g per hour. unfortunetly it takes time to sell so you cant earn much more than 120g/day.

At 375 tailoring, blacksmithing and leatherwork allow you to make Epic quality items BOP. This has proven so attractive that many dropped gathering to pick the epic-gearing profession. They end up with eg Alchemy and Leatherwork but no gathering for either. This is a costly exercise for them and a gold-making one for me. All by characters have one gathering profession.
Raids: most players dont have the time to farm the mats for their necessary alchemy or food. Know which food offer the buffs most sought after and which days guilds are more likely to raid.
